Which are traditional dishes of Alta Badia?
Traditional Ladin cuisine can boast many tasty dishes which combine flavors and aromas of mountain products with Tyrolean and Ladin tradition. The most famous dishes are the canederli (bread dumplings), the barley soup with homemade “tutres” (ricotta cheese, spinach or sauerkraut pancakes), the spätzle (small spinach dumplings) and the cajincì (spinach and ricotta cheese filled pasta with parmesan and butter).

South Tyrol has also tasty desserts, first of all the traditional Apple Strudel with warm vanilla sauce. We advise you to try also the Kaiserschmarren: a kind of pancake served with icing sugar and cranberry jam.

And finally, to perfectly end this wonderful meal, taste a typical homemade grappa, flavored with mountain herbs or mixed berries.
Are ski lifts open during summer as well?
Yes, the main lifts are also open in summer. You can easily reach mountain huts and restaurants or just shorten your excursion and begin it halfway. Alta Badia Mountain-pass grants unlimited access to lifts and transport with local busses at a reduced price as well as other benefits. Let your car have some holiday as well, our mountains will thank you!
Other things to do?
During the summer months the principal activity is to walk or hike on our Dolomites, UNESCO World Heritage. The closest itineraries are around the Sella-Massif, on the Sassongher or Piz Boè, for every Ievel of physical preparation, from easy walkways to climbing paths.

For relaxing afternoons go for a stroll in Colfosco, Corvara and La Villa and visit the various shops or have an aperitif at the typical bars and restaurants. If you want to feel like being at the sea, go to the biotope lake in Corvara, for a fresh bath or to lie in the sun and enjoy yourself.

If you want more sport activities, you can go ice skating at the ice stadium in Corvara or swimming at the swimming pool in La Villa. Have some fun at the high rope course at the Adventure Park Colfosco.

We advise you a visit at the Museum Ladin Ćiastel de Tor in San Martino (20 km from Colfosco) to learn about tradition and history of the Ladin people and their villages. The museum is located in an old medieval castle.
